Dr. Şakir Karakaya is a faculty member in the Department of Industrial Engineering at METU since May 2025. Prior to joining METU, he served in various roles including Consultant and Trainer in productivity and quality management at the National Productivity Center (MPM) of Turkey (2004–2012); Industry and Technology Expert (2013–2017), and Head of the Market Surveillance and Product Safety Department (2017–2025) at the Ministry of Industry and Technology. He was also a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering at Wayne State University (2022–2023).
