Biases in Decision Making

Murat Köksalan

Department of Industrial Engineering, METU

We make most of our decisions automatically utilizing some heuristics. In some cases, these heuristics lead to biases in our decisions. The structure (framing) of the decision situation we face may also have a manipulating effect on our decisions. In this talk, I will discuss heuristics, biases, and the framing effects, presenting experimental results demonstrating all cases.
